Introduction

When it is not possible to locate a servo motor close to an MR-J3 servo amplifier, it is necessary to run long encoder cables. To avoid problems with electrical noise, it is necessary to use a 4 wire system for cables of lengths 30 meters and more.

Design Considerations

The example system chosen is based on MR-J3 servo amplifier connected to a servo motor with an encoder cable longer than 30 meters. The servo is then connected to a QD75MH* position control system and a Q-Series PLC. This example applies to the following encoder cables:

  • MR-EKCBL30M-L (30 meters)
  • MR-EKCBL30M-H (30 meters)
  • MR-EKCBL40M-H (40 meters)
  • MR-EKCBL50M-H (50 meters)
