Introduction

Network cable for Mitsubishi FA equipment is an important aspect to undersand for new users – in order to facility normal connection functions. This section is a short description in a FAQ style.of some basic (modern) communication connections and the cables\interfaces to use.

When it comes to network connections – these are generally split into two groups – being;

  1. Programming Connection – linking the FA device to a PC\laptop for configuration setup and programming purposes
  2. Communication Connection – Inter-device data transfer for monitoring and control purposes.

Also helpful to know communication cables transfer data, whereas interfaces converts communication protocols. In addition, both of these terms may be referred to as adaptors. 

GOT Simple and GOT2000 HMI – For programming connection:

  1. mini-USB cable

  2. Standard Copper Ethernet cable (LAN Cable)

Melsec iQ-F FX5U or iQ-R – For programming connection:

  1. Standard Copper Ethernet cable (LAN Cable)

Melsec iQ-F FX5U to GOT Simple\GOT2000 – for communication purposes (via Ethernet communication protocol):

  1. Standard Copper Ethernet cable (LAN Cable)

Melsec FX (with FX-ENET) to GOT Simple\GOT2000 – for communication purposes (via Ethernet communication protocol):

  1. Standard Copper Ethernet cable (LAN Cable)

Melsec FX – For programming connection:

  1. FX-USB-AW (8-pin Round)
  2. Standard Copper Ethernet Cable (LAN Cable) (if FX-ENET card is used)

FREQROL Inverters – For programming\parameterization connection:

  1. Mini-USB Cable (For drives which has this functionality)
    • MR-J3USBCBL3M
  2. Serial Programming Cable (RS-485 to RS-232) + Serial Interface (RS-232 to USB)
    • SC-FRPC (Green)
    • MOXA Uport 1150 (or equivalent)

Melsec-Q – For programming connection:

  1. Mini-USB Cable (For PLC CPUs which has this functionality)
    • MR-J3USBCBL3M
  2. Serial Programming Cable (RS-232) + Serial Interface (RS-232 to USB)
    • QC30R2 (6-pin Round)
    • MOXA Uport 1150 (or equivalent)
  3. Standard Copper Ethernet Cables (LAN Cable) (For PLC CPUs (or cards) which has this functionality)
