A SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) is a type of HMI (Human-Machine Interface). It is a piece of UI (User Interface) software, which typically runs on MS Windows PCs or Servers, and acts as an interface between humans (operators) and processes (plants), in terms of monitoring and control. This is achieved through the SCADA interacting with the Plant hardware through interfacing. This interfacing process is achieved via communication protocols, and this process is called integration. Integration is one of the main functions of a SCADA system.
