Introduction
It is not well known that in a Q series PLC and automatic allocation of 500 program steps is taken out of the available program memory space to allow room of on-line program changes.
Although it is not normally recommended to modify this setting it is sometimes necessary to reduce this setting when running out of program space.
This document details where to find this on-line change space setting and how affect a change.modem settings.

The additional program size setting for online changes can be found as shown below:
When a change to the “Steps” setting is made and the OK button pressed, the following message will appear:
This message reminds the user that a project download is required to activate the change.
